BIOGRAPHY

Carmen was born in Montreal. After a long and successful career with a major Corporation, she re-directed her focus to art with formal studies at the Ontario College of Art and Design. She is a contemporary abstract painter and printmaker and has had an art practice for twenty-five years.

The majority of Carmen’s career has been devoted to non-objective painting. In 2016, Carmen’s work took a significant turn; printmaking became her preferred discipline. The slow, meditative process of printmaking contrasts strongly with the immediate and intuitive process of painting on a substrate.

Carmen is a member of Experimental Abstract Artists and an Active member of The Federation of Canadian Artists. She regularly exhibits her work through Commercial Galleries and various Juried Art Exhibitions in the Province. Carmen is represented by The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, The Gallery at Mattick’s, The Nanaimo Art Gallery, The Waterfront Gallery as well as other galleries in the Province.

Carmen is a recipient of several merit awards. Her work is held in private collections in Canada, USA, Japan, Sweden and New Zealand. She works from her home Studio on Vancouver Island.

Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
